The 2008 Presidential Election

Q:Barack Obama and John McCain are the 2008 US Presidential candidates. Whom would you cast a vote for if you were an American? Write an article stating your preference with three logical reasons.

I choose Obama. Why?

The 2008 US Presidential Election is coming soon. Candidates Obama and McCain are eager to win this election very much. It will be an exciting election because of two exceptional candidates. One may be the oldest President, one may be the first African-American US President. Both candidates show their different personal style and promote their own ideas and suggestions to attract the voters’ attention and gain their supports’ votes. Personally, I support Obama to be the new President based on the following reasons.

In the world, the top buzz must be the financial crisis, and now, America maybe is facing the biggest difficulties of economy. Of course. It must be the first problem for the new president to solve, so I prefer to focus on their policies of solving this serious problem. McCain suggests reducing the tax to shoulder the mortgages of the American. On the other hand, Obama would like to provide tax incentives for companies and create more jobs for the residents. Both policies have their reasons, but I deem that the second one is better than the first one because the first one just give some money to the residents but it cannot solve the problem actually. However, Obama’s ideas can solve the root of problem. It is workable than the other suggestion.

Second, their images also are very important to me to choose which one to be the President. McCain is an experienced candidate who was also a presidential candidate in 2000, but lost the nomination to George W. Bush. McCain has a host of experience on war as well as he was called “hero” by American. Nevertheless, he is an out-dated hero. Now, America is encountering the biggest crisis of finance. It cannot make use of “experience” only to solve the problem. The Americans need confidence to fight against this crisis. And Obama, who is a young as well as energetic person, has a special power to lead the whole America to face this difficulty. What is more, most Americans think the same with me as well.

The last reason for me to deem that Obama is the better choice to be the US President on account of his vice presidential – Joe Biden. He was born in November 20, 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He currently is the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, which reviews matters related to foreign policy including treaties, national security initiatives and humanitarian assistance. These foreign policies offer the confidence to me and the whole American. But McCain’s vice president – Palin, who has a list of bad news to affect and reduce our confidence in the future of America. Therefore, I prefer Obama to be the President.

In short, although Obama is a African-American people, his policies, image and the choice of vice-president are suitable for America and her residents. He shows his capability in this election. Also, I believe that he can do better than McCain and bring new change to America and make it better. That is my reason why I choose Obama to be the next US resident.
