Having a pet can instead of your children?

There are a host of information and data shown that the birth rate of the city is going down, more and more families choose to be childless and have a pet as their family member instead. However, a special question occurs: A dog, a cat, even a fish, can they really replace a human actually?

It is no doubt that having a pet as our family member can bring some positive aspects. One of the vital reasons that the family chose a pet instead of a kid is the problem of future. Under the society wit financial distress, every family must have the pressure of the financial problem. A study showed that cultivating a child needs HK$4,000,000! It is not an easy thing for the normal, even low-income family. But now, people are afraid that whether being an unemployed or not tomorrow, they have no confidence to offer the best living environment to their children. Therefore, having a pet instead of the kid is not a bad idea.

In addition, the family does not need to pay more attention and care on the pet’s future. In Hong Kong, an examination driven city, where a student need to face a lot of tests in his or her life. It is very stressful for the students and their families at the same time. However, a pet does not need to worry the test, the pressure, even its future. Being its “parents” do not always worry the pet as well. Hence, the family can enjoy the fun with pets and do not need to care about its future because the master can afford the responsibility of the pet’s whole life, unlike a human.

Of course, having a pet instead of our own children has the negative influence too. And the first reason is the culture that cannot be kept and transferred to the next generation. If more and more people choose to have a pet as their family member, the valuable culture the pet cannot keep and treasure. They do not know what culture is, and they cannot protect it and pass to the next generation. The important culture, even heritages, because the pet do not know how to save, it will be fade out very soon. It is a big attack for the human culture.

Moreover, having a pet cannot make you be a real-parent. Although you can cultivate a pet as your child, it is a thing that you never are a real-parent at all. Being a parent is that you can enjoy the happiness of taking care of the baby, teaching them to be a useful person. You can teach them how to eat, use the tool and toys and one of the important things is to teach them how to say “Papa, Mama”. Even though you can enjoy the fun with pets, you never can expect your pets to talk something, to share something with you. Nevertheless, being a real-parent, you can look forward to your children’s growing up, wearing the school uniform, saying Good morning to you every day. Those can not be real when you choose a pet being your children forever.

Also, it is a great physical difference between a human and a pet. You must be very worried about your member when you are the one of the family. And it is not surprised that the live of a pet have to be shorter than a human without any accidents. While the pet dies first, you and your family must be very upset. For this case, being a member of family, you should not want your child to leave you. Thus, having a pet instead of your own children in the family is negative.

All in all, having a pet as your own children in the family has two side aspects actually. For the positive one, the cost of cultivating a pet is lower and the master does not need to worry the pet’s future all the time. For the negative one that the master cannot feel the real feeling of being a parent and the culture of human would be disappeared.
