A new Chinese year

A new Chinese year is coming soon, suddenly, I reminded that it is a long time I have not updated the blog. Lots of things have happened in this time, such as being volunteer of Special Olympics, finishing the final exam, preparing the next sem. and gaining the first working experience of program worker.

It’s all the wonderful time for me to enjoy. Although it is not easy to overcome and encounter some of cases, a good feeling and enjoyment I have gained from the processes. For example, the first working experience of program worker provided by LCSD is a great time for me. I never thought that talking with children is one of my first job areas. Actually, setting up, dismantling and assisting the operation of event is the job duties for a program worker. However, it also is an excellent experience for me to interact with the children and their parents. Of course, I learnt some useful skills during the chat with them, for instance, to the children, they may be afraid that talk with a person taller than them a lot, so I need to squat down, even sit on the floor to suit them. Also, I need to speak loudly and exaggeratedly with some physical action (e.g. action and expression) that they can draw the attention to you. To the parents, they prefer to say more about their children, the questions about the age, study and the workload of them is better than the other topics. In fact, most of them were nice and willing to share their feeling, especially the lovely children. They would express themselves actively and directly, even though some of them might be preferred quiet and sky.

Nevertheless, I really understand that I am not a perfect one to take care of a group of children from this actual experience because I am really tired in thinking different topics for chatting with them and drawing their attention on me to keep in order. Maybe, they are really cute with beautiful eyes but I understand that more patience is required for a good teacher or care provider, and I am NOT.

Next time, perhaps, I will be willing to accept the job of talking (playing) with them, but I really ensure that I would not be thrown into the child education/care industries. =P
