Dear Editor,

I am writing to express the explanations of the trend of compensated dating and the impact on the young generation. As we know, the compensated dating is undeniably a growing problem. More and more teenage girls and young women are involved in the practice. Recently, when we turn on the television or take a peek at newspaper, lots of news reports show the seriousness of compensated dating. It has an indication that the involved girls become younger in average age. Even the girls as young as 13 also engage in compensated dating. It is a horrible phenomenon in the society, but why, why are they involved in the practice as young as 13? And why is compensated dating popularized now?

In fact, some of the young people believe that compensated dating was only a way for two people to get together for social activities. Some even make this form of prostitution seem normal and glamorous. They made friends only and found someone who made them feel loved. In the busy city as Hong Kong, most parents lack time with their children and take little attention to them. The kids did not feel loved and then they asked help as well as love outside. Therefore, more and more teenage girls are engaged in the activity.

Besides, most people have gotten lost in the material oriented society, including the kids and the teenagers. Compensated dating is a way to make quick cash easily. The clients often have high social standing and stable incomes. Hence, the teenagers were participated in the prostitution practice not only due to seeking be loved, but also satisfying their demand of money or luxury gifts, such as brand-name products. Overall, these reasons lead compensated dating to be more serious and popularized.

Of course, although most of the girls ignore the consequence of their action, the negative effects of compensated dating are still alive and bring a host of impacts on the young generation.

The most dangerous to get involved in the practice as the girls may be led to unknown places by customers, with whom they are unfamiliar. The girls may be raped and get indecent assaults. Maybe, they do not have life-threatened, but some may get pregnant, even contract sexually transmitted disease when they provide sex to men.

The girls at such a young age become prostitutes, who spend time on compensated dating only, it will ruin their own prospects and jeopardize their health too. Some will live on the earnings of prostitution because they have scant ability to look for a better job. Some may be drawn to drugs because they are lonely and there is a lack of love in their lives. At the same time, the teenage girls also instill the same values to their friends and they will take part in these practices because of peer influence. The whole problem will be extended and worsened on the young generation.

All in all, compensated dating is a road of no return. The girls will feel regret in the future because they will soon find their losses are much greater than their gains. I hope that different parts of society can help them to leave the practice as fast as possible.
